Ambitions, Aspirations, and Goals of EDC102H

Kelly Lakin - My main goal in life is to be in some part of the medical field. Also, I want to get married and be a mom! Even a housewife would satisfy me :)

Robert Pekrul - My aspiration is to work in a career that closely deals with social reform and activism.

Melissa Abbate - I would love to become a teacher so I could help out other students!
I want to be successful and support myself, as well as help others.
That's my only generic goal; my other goal would be to learn as many languages as possible.

Craig Tilton - My goals are as follows; I am going to graduate URI with a degree in industrial and systems engineering with a minor in mathematics. I am going to go to a very expensive, science/math based school such as WPI to get my masters in industrial engineering. I will get a job at the CVS headquarters optimizing systems. I'll start a family as well.

Alex Carlson - I hope to one day teach English at the high school level. The level at which I teach does not really matter to me, I know that I'll probably have to start standard and eventually earn the right to teach Honors or AP students. I just hope that my teaching makes some sort of impact in that person's life. Whether it be that they find a new way to see the world, or discover a newfound appreciation for language and literature, I just hope that my future students look forward to my class and leave with something more than just a basic knowledge of literature and a letter grade.

Tiffany Mcclay - My ambitions, aspirations and goals include: teaching high school history preferably around the area I grew-up, southern Rhode Island. I want a family, a husband and two or three kids, but not for a few years! I hope to own a house in the future as well. The rest is what ever happens happens.

June Coelho - I want to minor in art (drawing), eventually become a 7th or 8th grade English teacher, and generally lead a happy life.

Danielle Santagata - I hope to finish college with a associates and bachelor degree, and eventually getting my masters in order to one day become a teacher. I plan on having a family one day too and owning my own home.

Matt Repetto - I hope to graduate from the Honors program. I want to decide my major before the end of next year. I want to go to law school.

Kelsey Lydon - Professionally, my dream for the future is to become a middle or high school English teacher (and eventually earn my Ph.D in education. Personally, I want to have a big, happy family.

Emily Markey - Sorry it took so long! I am considering joining a sorority and I want to play intramural softball at URI. I want to become a middle school Spanish teacher. I want to eventually get married and have children, but not for a very long time.

Lauren Schuessler - One of my goals is to live in Italy and teach preschool or kindergarten.

Sammy - My goal is to get my degree in education for now, but I want to one day be a child psychologist. I also hope to become a certified Turbo Kick instructor by the time I'm twenty.

Jacob Ricci - My dream is to become a High School History teacher. I'd like to earn my Masters and perhaps a PhD in History. I would like to eventually have a family, and live in a rather rural town.

Kerri Soscia - I am hoping to graduate from URI with a degree in English and Secondary Education. I would then like to go to graduate school to get a degree in Creative Writing. I would like to be an editor or publisher of fiction, but if for some reason I am unable to, I would love to be an English teacher for middle school kids.

Alyssa Dagenais - I want to graduate from URI with a double major in music education and possibly math. Eventually, I will also get my master's degree. Ideally, I will get a job as an elementary school music teacher, close to my town of Douglas, MA. If I can't get a job in a public school, I will teach piano lessons. Starting a family is also very important to me, and I may even be a stay at home mom for a while.

Amanda Taylor - My goal is to graduate URI with a double major in mathematics and secondary education. After I hope to teach at a public school and make a difference in students lives just like my teachers did for me. I also hope to start a family when the timing is right.

Lindsay Heckmann - become a speech therapists and run a half marathon

Kaitlyn Sharkey - my professional goal is to one day become a preschool teacher and eventually own my own preschool!

Educational Dreams - Edited
The members of the EDC 102 Honors have high, lofty goals for their continuing education. Many of us desire to continue our education after graduating from the University of Rhode Island; they will continue on to receive a Master’s degree or a Doctoral degree. For those interested in becoming teachers, the desire to receive a Master’s degree goes hand in hand with career decisions. Some of use desire to focus on Math, while others will focus on English or History. Some of us even desire a PhD in our subject or in Education. Not all of us have the desire to teach, however. Some of us plan to continue on to Law School or a high level Engineering School such as Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The fields of study our class is interested in pursuing are vast and all encompassing. We all share one continuous desire; we share the desire to further oneself by learning all that we can and to prove it by graduating from the University of Rhode Island.

FAMILY --> Edited

The students in EDC 102 Honors share many similar goals for their future. All of us want to lead a happy life. One of the goals many of us share is to get married and have children and a family. A large portion of us said we aspire to get married and have children. We also want to be able to have a nice home for our families to live in and jobs so we are able to support them. Our class is mostly made up of freshman in college, as well as a few sophomores. None of us believe that we are ready to get married and have children at this point in our lives, but we all hope to reach our goals in the future and live happy lives.

Teaching --> Edited

This is an education class; it is no surprise that a majority of the EDC 102 Honors students want to be teachers. Though we all aim to teach different subjects and grades, everyone that wants to be a teacher agrees that we want to make a difference in the lives of our students. We want to teach such varied areas as English, History, Spanish, Music, and Math. Some of us desire to teach preschool, other would rather teach elementary school, middle school, or high school. We are all different in many ways, but the desire to teach and make a positive impact is what links many of us.
